Realme C31, with box.

The C31 – Realme’s newest addition to the company’s impressive range of ultra-budget and user-friendly phones. This phone is the successor to the C21, with updates that will completely change the game. With a 6.5-inch LCD screen and a 13-megapixel triple rear camera, you won’t believe this phone retails for just Rs. 8999.

But first, a look at the specs of the phone:

  • 3GB RAM, 4GB RAM | 32GB ROM, 64GB ROM | Expandable up to 1TB
  • 16.56 cm (6.52 inch) HD display
  • 13MP+2MP+0.3MP | 5MP front camera
  • 5000mAh battery
  • Comes with multi-SIM card slots

Here’s a little overview to find out if this phone is for you

Price: This phone retails at Rs. 8,999 for the base price. For the price, keep your expectations low, but also expect them to be met. The top-end model sells for Rs 9,999, for which you will get 4GB of RAM and 64GB of memory. The price is right and this phone stands out from other phones in the budget segment.

To display: With a notched screen and curved edges, the 6.5-inch HD+ screen is decent for the price. The maximum resolution this phone can support is 720p and there is no 90Hz refresh rate.

Battery: A 5000 mAh battery that lasts quite a long time and a 10 W charger – the battery specifications of the C31. With a full battery and minimal usage, the battery lasted a full day for me. While gaming, I noticed the battery lay still for a long time, dropping around 5% every hour. 10W is disappointing in today’s market, as trickle charging is not something everyone likes.

Camera: C31 equips three rear cameras, and the main one comes with 13 megapixels. The second comes with a 2mp macro, the third is for monochrome photos. On the front is a 5-megapixel camera for selfies. The cameras are good, the main rear lens snaps decent shots in good light. The macro lens is decent and the rear cameras are surprisingly fast. The videos disappointed me, as the pixel rate seemed to be slow. However, several modes are available, such as Auto HDR, Burst, Time Lapse, Macro and Night Pro.

Performance: C31 comes with a T612 processor and 4 GB of RAM. You can get LPDDR4X RAM and up to 64GB of UFS 2.2 storage. This phone stands out from its competitors and has better performance which means faster switching rate. You can check your emails, use Whatsapp and play games easily.

Design: The C31 is made of polycarbonate and has a textured back panel to prevent the phone from slipping out of your fingers. The texture limits the fingerprint sensor on the back. Realme has taken the smart turn here, placing the fingerprint sensor on the power button, making it more accessible. There’s a headphone jack on the bottom of the phone, and the SIM card socket and volume buttons are on the side. With a solid build quality, this phone has a lovely design, which appeals to most.

Speakers: The speakers are located on the bottom edge, this phone can play music at high volume and has a good base. During the game, I noticed that you might need headphones, as the sound can sometimes be blurry. The front speakers are fine, though.

After using the phone for a while, it’s safe to say that I really enjoyed the C31. Its screen is decent and the camera matches the price. Watching Youtube videos, playing games and switching apps was smooth. The battery lasts a long time and there are a lot more pros than cons in this Realme series. For Rs. 8,999, this phone may be your best bet.
