To discipline the staff, a biometric system based on facial reading has been introduced in the municipal corporation of Solan from today.
Staff were encouraged to mark their attendance through this newly introduced system. Manually marked presence would only be taken into account if supported by a biometric system based on facial reading. This would also form the basis of the staff’s monthly salary.
Commissioner MC Solan Rajiv Kumar said a face-reading based biometric system was introduced from today for staff. “Since the finger-based biometric system was discontinued due to the Covid pandemic, this new system will help discipline staff and also bring more efficiency.”
All staff including Assistant Engineers, Legal Officer, Superintendent, Building and Road Construction Department staff, Accounts, Administration, Sanitation, Journal and Allocation, Taxes, Billing and distribution were asked to comply with the instructions. There were around 40-50 employees in the MC which was upgraded in October 2020.
With cases of staff remaining absent or arriving late becoming routine in the MC, this decision will help bring more efficiency in addition to expediting pending work. Since several rural areas were added to the urban civic body after its upgrade from a city council, the workload has increased. —
